This was my first time on this trail and I was a little out of shape. I was on snowshoes all day - they weren't really needed for the first part of the trail, but once past the refuge, the trail was much less travelled and I wouldn't have wanted to be without snowshoes.
The trail is in very good shape, rated moderate only because of the slope - and that might just be my conditioning :-). The ascent includes about 25 minutes of rest, snacking, and conversation with other snowshoers, the descent is direct with only one brief stop to remove layers.
Trail maps and information are available at https://clubpleinairsaint-donat.org/ the club that does all the work to provide the trail. Access is free, but donations are accepted - there is a donation box at the trail head.
