Hellismannaleid ( Hellismannaleið ) trail aprox. 55 km from Rjupnavellir Cottages to Landmannalaugar Hut. Not so famost like Laugavegur Trail so during all walk we saw 2 another hikers. Rjupnavellir Cottages you can reach by bus (trex) or hitchike (easy)
Wild camping is legal on all trail (For hikers only !) but not possible on last 6 km before Landmannalaugar Hut. Full report (in Polish) with map with more waypoints :

Apart from the one river crossing requiring removal of your boots and trousers the route is pretty easy. For much of it there is no visible path so download this track for your GPS, especially as it was not shown on the hiking map I bought. A better trek than the very popular Laugavegur trail is you wish to experience solitude on the black ash plains, surrounded by snow streaked mountains.
