Cette randonnée de 8 km au départ de la maison d'hôtes Le Valangré (Gistoux) vous ballade de l'histoire toute récente de la commune de Chaumont-Gistoux à celle de la préhistoire.
Récente pour la pisciculture de la famille Colette dans la vallée du Glabais qui fut active pendant un grande partie du siècle dernier (jusque vers 1995) et produisit jusque 100 tonnes de truites et d'écrevisses par an dans une trentaine d'étangs.
Beaucoup plus ancienne par son discret site archéologique du néolithique (Michelsberg) où vécurent les premiers habitants du lieu il y a quelques 4500 ans abrités par un rempart de plus de 700 m de long dont on peut encore apercevoir les traces -- en réalité un simple talus de 2 m de haut et de 10 m de large -- si vous y prêtez bien attention.

This 8 km hike from the guest house Le Valangré (Gistoux) will take you from the very recent history of the municipality of Chaumont-Gistoux to prehistoric times.
Recent for the fish farming of the Colette family in the "Glabais" valley which was active during a large part of the last century (until about 1995) and produced up to 100 tons of trout and crayfish per year in about thirty ponds.
Much older by its unostentatious archaeological site of the Neolithic (Michelsberg) where the first inhabitants of the place lived some 4500 years ago sheltered by a rampart of more than 700 m long whose traces can still be seen -- actually a simple slope of 2 m high and 10 m wide -- if you pay close attention.
