Loop trail from Burrington passing through:
- Mendips Beacon Batch (3.1 km)
- Rowberrow Warren
Parking and toilets available at the start for a donation. Other parking available. Would advise wearing hiking boots and it does get windy on the Down. The start of the path was difficult to find it’s actually to the right down the side of the toilets and then is quite a steep ascent on loose stones, tough going holding on to the dogs. I did go wrong towards the top when I put my phone away to concentrate!! Rest of the route ok. There are horses on The Down. Plenty of paths to choose from up there and in the woods, route can be customized. I wouldn’t bother with the first detour to the ‘stream’ (hardly any water as it’s been so dry!) and we cross it again later although it was dry today. No refreshments on route. Marked as difficult mainly for the first ascent.
