Beschreibung der Reiseroute
Arriving at San Lorenzo El Escorial with bus 664 from Moncloa, taking off from the centre of town. Walking up to the Embalse del Romeral and then following GR-10 Subida Abantos alongside the Aroyo del Romeral. Crossing the road and following the path up to Fuente del Cervunal. Enjoy the peacefulness of this pradera before going up to the first viewpoint between Risco Benito where you can see the Caseta del Télegrafo before finishing the ascent to the Pico de Abantos at 1752 meters. We go a little bit down from the peak towards the descend to enjoy lunch at a beautiful plaque of granite in the sun with views on Madrid in the distance and El Escorial down the mountain. We follow this track PR-M22 down, passing by the ruins of Casa del Renegado. Halfway we bent off to a sidetrack following the curves of the slope, providing us with a very soft and gradual descent, heading back to our starting point. In the end, we follow the stone path over the Aroyo del Romeral, giving us a fairytale ending surrounded by blossoms.
