Beschreibung der Reiseroute
Starts at O'Reillys Rainforest Retreat - Lamington National Park.
5km on Border track, turn onto Albert River Circuit and then leave this circuit and head off track down the side of the hill towards Black Canyon.
There is a "trail", marked by pink/orange fluoro tape tied to trees - as you leave Albert River Track going downhill the track is slightly to the right. Progressively steeper as you approach Black Canyon. Where you join the creek cross immediately over to the other side and then boulder hop oustream to the blind end where Thunder and Lightning falls are. Crossing creek multiple times and a couple of detours several metres away from the creek bed to get around steep bits and one deeper waterhole with steep edges.
About 2 hrs of creek hopping to the falls. Spectacular views in the creek and the falls are amazing.
Backtrack the way you came.
Very steep up out of Black Canyon back to the Albert River Circuit Track. Then back to O'Reillys.
Total time for us was 11.5 hrs (Oreillys to Oreillys). A very long, hard day but a wonderful hike.
Tips: do not do this if there has been recent heavy rain - the hillside down to Black Canyon is likely to be muddy, slippy and generally treacherous AND the river will be rushing.
